Bringing Eve Home Finale and Okay Then Where AM I?

Elisabeth and someone else that I can't remember both said I am not in their spam folder and yet I have ABSOLUTELY written comments on their recent posts and it looked like they posted and then they were not there so I am having an existential crisis in the most literal sense right now. I guess I'll save every comment to a document, because I feel like an idiot typing it all over again when it disappears.

We were hoping to be headed home by noon on Wednesday. This did not happen. I didn't really think it would. Of course, Matt also had told himself that we were going to get everything in the rented van. When we were finally ready to go, Matt said (as if he was making a big surprising confession) "I'm not sure how we would have gotten anything like close to all your stuff home if we hadn't gotten the storage locker" and Eve was like "GIRL WE KNOW".

So we drove around doing one last load and I was basically looking out the van window and sighing and looking around the house and sighing and being melancholy (yeah I know, I wasn't even the one moving, AND she's coming back in the fall, but STILL.)

The girls had an arts and science society poster with a McMaster Engineering hat for Mera on their fridge

Eve found her Schrodinger's Cat and Box socks while she was packing and put them on and Lauren said "oh my god, your socks have MOVING BOXES on them".

Just before we left, Eve really wanted to pop a confetti balloon. This is hilarious because she says she is always the one telling people not to throw a frisbee inside the house or whatever, but she'd been driving everyone crazy trying to pop Mera's balloons all week.

So then they popped all the confetti balloons, because it was the last day of April.

And then we hit the road.

Comments

These photos are so hopeful and joyful! (But maybe not all was joy as it was the end of the semester and people were departing and that can be sad). That TREE is just the most ebullient tree. Also, I am now a little bit coveting the socks. I probably also need that poster about staying #$&&* kind. Moving is sooo difficult and full of big emotions, but it looks like you all not only left the place spick and span but also made it fun.

Those balloons are so fun!
Your comments came through this time (though they were in Spam). I have no idea what's going on. *Wail*
But now I will make sure to check the Spam folder more faithfully!

Aw! I'm sad the moving episode is over--those kids are so quirky and photogenic!

I'm guessing it's more emotional because it's your alma mater, too. Though I ended up very attached to Ithaca, too, and I'm kind of sad not to have a reason to go back there.
The stairway photo shoot is so sweet, and the confetti balloon popping shots are amazing. Why am I feeling a little sad FOR PEOPLE I DO NOT KNOW??? The empty room photos, I think. That's what got me. *Sob!*

Right? It seems like they're fake kids written for some zany tv show but THEY'RE REAL.

Those trees don't bloom long, but while they bloom they are spectacular. I thought I would remember where I got the socks, but I don't - it was somewhere that had a ton of really cool mismatched socks. I will tell you if I remember.

Sorry, I hit post before I read the email.

Yeah, Ithaca was super cool, and Angus was only there two years.

The leaving places is hard, although I guess you can know that she left on a high. I loved my daughter's first student house ... until one bathroom and no dishwasher for five people, and a revolving door of subletters meant I didn't anymore. It helped that her new place is so amazing (I have no idea how I'm going to cope when we have to move her out of there). The vicarious nostalgia is strong in me ...
