Well fuck

Sorry for swearing. Canada Post just went on strike, which I knew was going to happen, but it's a mental blow anyway. I love sending Christmas cards and receiving Christmas cards, and if there are none I'm going to be really sad. I'll still write them and send them whenever things get settled. I feel for the postal workers, but it's also a really different world for sending stuff these days, so I'm not terribly hopeful that this will be settled quickly. It's going to make Christmas present shopping challenging too - I can 'shop local' as much as possible, but local doesn't always mean small business. It's fine. My children aren't small and will understand. Sucks for people who aren't in the same position.

I'm just sad.

Oh goodness, I hope that it does settle quickly, though you fear it will not. I have a couple of Canadian friends I exchange Christmas Cards with. I guess if I don't get any, I will know why! Will this affect your imports and exports, or just the mail? (just...hah!)

Oh this IS sad!!!!! I will send you a card anyway, and it will be fun ("fun"?) to see how long it takes to arrive. Speaking of mail, I got a LOVELY note from you!!!! So fun!

In their defense, this is the PERFECT time to go on strike, as they will probably get attention!

Oh, no! So annoying.

I had no idea it was even coming! I literally went on CBC news for the first time in months (I get all my news from BBC), and saw they had started striking that morning. Clearly I need to pay more attention to Canadian news.
I was really bummed about it, but today have decided I'm SO fortunate that my biggest frustration is sending things for Christmas. Imagine all the small businesses being so deeply impacted by the strike, or people who receive support cheques through the mail. Ugh. It sounds like they will be forced back to work by the government before too long? Either way, miserable all around...

Because of the timing of this, I'm hoping everyone involved will be motivated to get it resolved quickly. You must get your Christmas cards!
And... swear all you want. I've decided (in light of revent events) to start swearing more, and it feels great.

Wow, this is terrible! I hope it gets resolved quickly due to the timing with the holidays. This will massively affect so many industries!

Argh that sucks. I am sorry. Maybe they resolve out quicker than you think. And I think getting a present after the holidays can also be nice. Just reframe and it might not be too bad. I feel for small business though who are now loosing seasonal business. They are the real losers in things like this.

Oh, no, Canadian friends! OH NO! I did just send out some postcards to some folks in Canada and I hope they are not lost forever. I'm sure it will be resolved quickly and your mail will be back on its regular schedule ASAP.
