It was one of...I loved this book so much as a kid. It was one of about 10 books I recall reading for school and loving along with Tuck Everlasting, Johnny Tremain, and The Witch of Blackbird Pond. Oldest read it a couple of years ago and enjoyed it, but it didn't take up a place in his heart like it did for me.
